The Republicans are trying to set up a “Government vs. Private Enterprise” debate. This is a lot like a Cardiovascular System vs. Skeletal System debate.

Both are important. They do different things. When I tried to redesign my hamster by removing all the bones to implant a couple extra hearts, it didn’t end well. (I had to write “The rules of bio-medical ethics are not more like guidelines” five hundred times on the chalkboard.) The idea that you have to pick a side and stick with it to the exclusion of the other is nonsense.
