1. The last time three presidents in a row were elected to second terms in their own right (Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama, 1993-), their names were Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe (1801-1825).
2. No Republican has won a presidential election since 1972 without someone named “Bush” running as President or Vice President. (Although the Bush name is not a guarantee of victory—see 1992.) That’s 40 years—and 10 presidential elections.
All I can say is: American politics is weird.
