The difference between climate change skeptics and gun control skeptics (who are often the same people)

—Because climate change is slow and uneven, climate change skeptics can’t imagine a future in which climate change transforms our lives into dystopian forms despite vast amounts of evidence suggesting it’s coming.

—Meanwhile, gun control skeptics can’t see anything but an extremely improbable dystopian future run by a totalitarian government when they think about gun control, but can’t see any problems with guns today despite the daily carnage on America’s streets, homes and schools.

Facts, it appears, serve narratives, not truth.
