Austin, Texas is petitioning to secede from the rest of the state and take their Dr Pepper, BBQ and beer with them.

I’ve always heard that I’d probably be ok living in Austin if I had to live in Texas

Obama Campaign Bus Comes Fully Stocked With White House-Brewed Beer

According to the Des Moines Register, Obama told a man at an Iowa coffee shop Tuesday that his bus was stocked with beer, brewed at the White House. He even offered the man a bottle of the home-brew, Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.
This story inevitably led to a number of questions for White House Spokesman Jay Carney regarding the specifics of the beer.
The Register reports that Carney revealed that the White House brews both “light” and “dark” variations of the beer.
The White House chefs have been experimenting with home-brewing for some time, and according to news reports have crafted a White House Honey Ale, which included honey from the First Lady’s beehive, as well as a White House Honey Blonde and Honey Porter. There was no word on Tuesday about the style of beer with which the Obama campaign bus is stocked now.
“It is superb,” Carney said Tuesday of the current brew. “It is quite good.”

Alongside Obama, George W. Bush Steals the WH Show - ABC News

“Thank you so much for inviting our rowdy friends to my hanging,” the former president said, referring to members of his family and former staff, invited back to the executive mansion for the unveiling of his and Laura Bush’s official portraits. “Behave yourselves,” he jokingly admonished his crowd.
Bush said he was pleased that the White House portrait collection now starts and ends with a “George W.” Noting that George Washington’s portrait was famously saved by first lady Dolley Madison when the British burned the White House in 1814, Bush pointed to his own portrait and told Michelle Obama that “if anything happens, there’s your man.”
With a smile, the first lady assured him in her own remarks, “I promise, I’m going straight for” it in case of emergency.

Statement by the President on the Passing of Steve Jobs

shortformblog:

Michelle and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Steve Jobs. Steve was among the greatest of American innovators - brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.

By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity. By making computers personal and putting the internet in our pockets, he made the information revolution not only accessible, but intuitive and fun. And by turning his talents to storytelling, he has brought joy to millions of children and grownups alike. Steve was fond of saying that he lived every day like it was his last. Because he did, he transformed our lives, redefined entire industries, and achieved one of the rarest feats in human history: he changed the way each of us sees the world.

The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve’s success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve’s wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him.

Bolded our favorite line from this. (Thanks Matt for sending this along)

President Obama marks the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks and pays tribute to the first responders, those serving our nation in the military, and those who lost their lives on that tragic day.

“When I ran for this office, I pledged to make government more open and accountable to its citizens. That’s what the new We the People feature on WhiteHouse.gov is all about – giving Americans a direct line to the White House on the issues and concerns that matter most to them.” - President Obama

The president said I needed to watch what I say,” Perry said. “I just want to respond back if I may. Mr. President, actions speak louder than words. My actions as governor are helping create jobs in this country. The president’s actions are killing jobs in this country. It’s time to get America working again.

Interesting, considering according to this report, Texas actually “has done worse than the rest of the country” over the past 2+ years in creating jobs.

In the death of an enemy, any signs of jubilation and partying are vulgar.  That must be why, in a White House crammed with sets of china, coffee was served in paper cups.
