Idiots Respond To NBC Pre-Empting Sunday Night Football

politicalprof:

kohenari:

NBC pre-empted the first quarter of tonight’s 49ers-Patriots game to show President Obama’s speech at the Newtown memorial for victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. As you might expect, many football fans didn’t take kindly to this.

I’m not posting any of the tweets here; if you haven’t seen them and have an interest in the names and faces of the dregs of humanity, you can go see for yourself how unabashed racism, love of guns, love of televised sports, and hatred of government all mix together.

It’s interesting to see how many of these people have already deleted their Twitter accounts; I suppose they’ll just stick to being racist morons offline from now on. Even more interesting, though, are the geniuses who have kept their accounts and are defending themselves: “Hey, I was just making a joke.” Or, “I always talk like this about everyone.” Or, “People take everything too seriously.” Or, “I’m on the news!”

Of course, if there weren’t a ton of racist morons out there, I’m not sure what I’d write about

Politicalprof: this is incredibly hard to read, but it is a real part of America …

Announcing The Absolutely Brilliant Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman Tumblr Q&A of Christmas 2012
Anyone who follows this blog knows how much BBC America ships Doctor Who and Tumblr.
We’ve had meetups and contests and livetumblrings and in return, you’ve shown your love by getting Doctor Who on the cover of not one but two major U.S. magazines — Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide.
This holiday season we’re showing our love by hosting the first ever Tumblr Q&A with the cast of Doctor Who — Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman! (ehrmahgerd!ehrmahgerd!ehrmahgerd!)

In fact, we think this might be the first TV show Q&A on Tumblr ever, right? If so, cool. If not: WHO CARES THIS IS STILL LIKE BOW TIES ARE COOL LEVEL OF COOL!!!!
This is how it’s going to work:
Post your question to your blog (as text, drawing, video, whatever) and tag it ‘Tumblr WHO&A’ OR ‘Tumblr WHO and A’
Matt and Jenna will reblog their favorite questions with their answers to the Doctor Who Tumblr on Friday, December 7th.
In order to make your questions and their answers rebloggable, we are not using the Tumblr Ask or Fan Mail (though we lurve them both), so be sure to post and tag your questions properly.

*And we’re sorry. We’re so sorry but they probably won’t get to answer every question.

But rest assured we’re dispatching the entire Doctor Who Tumblr team to help them sort through the tag pages.
So yeah, submit your question via your blog, tag it, and we’ll see you, Matt and Jenna on Friday. WE ARE SO VERY EXCITE!!!!

The portrayals are so close to life that the film is hard to watch.

Maybe it’s because of how well Julianne Moore gets Sarah Palin in the movie, which airs on HBO Saturday night, or because of how fresh the campaign is in our minds. But you can’t help wincing as it’s suggested by McCain advisor Steve Schmidt (played by Woody Harrelson) that Palin “act” her way through her debate with Joe Biden. The re-creation of the infamous interview with Katie Couric is as painful to watch now as was the original.

Planned Website would List Who's Behind a Political/Campaign Ad, How Much They Paid for It

utnereader:

(via Ad Age)

Just as a banner season for political advertising is starting, the Obama administration has thrown broadcasters a curveball — and broadcasters are hustling to figure out what it might mean in terms of costs and implications.

The Federal Communications Commission has proposed requiring television stations to post online information about their political advertisers.

That information, currently kept in paper files at the stations, includes the names of candidates or groups requesting to run an ad, the reason for broadcasting the ad, the time and placement of the ad and its cost.

This is a good thing, right?

Pint-Sized Preachers
They preach, the heal the sick, and they swagger from the pulpit. But these aren’t your average preachers, they are children dubbed pint-sized preachers. The viral internet phenomenon is transitioning to TV in a new documentary.
On Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET (tonight!), the National Geographic Channel will air “Pint-Sized Preachers,” a documentary looking inside the controversial world of child evangelists and the families who watch over them.
The hour-long documentary tells the stories of three young boys who have gained notoriety for their explosive sermons and, in one case, a self-proclaimed power to heal the sick with a single touch.
